- Aural Training Course
Enrolment for the current course is now closed. The next course will be in Spring 2025.
Aural Training is a short course that supports singers and instrumentalists working towards graded exams.
The group helps students prepare for the aural section of practical music exams and aids the development of aural critical analysis.
What is Aural Training?
Listening and internalisation skills form an important part of every musician's development.
The Aural Training Course will support pupils as they prepare for specific graded exams, providing them with the skills and confidence they need for the aural section of the exam as well as developing their musical understanding.
Who can take part?
Applications are welcome from anyone school age to adult, working towards any grade 1-8 in classical face-to-face exams with either Trinity or ABRSM exam boards.
You do not have to have lessons with Musica Kirklees to apply.
How does the course work?
The course will be made of 6 sessions held at Netherhall Learning Campus High School in Huddersfield.
Sessions will last between 30 minutes and 1 hour (starting 5.45 or 6.15pm) on Wednesdays.
- Dates will be posted here for the next course when enrolment opens
The course content will depend on the number of pupils enrolled and the range of grades of those pupils. To ensure all pupils receive the aural training relevant to their exam, the hour sessions may be divided into two 30 minute sessions each of which will focus on skills for a particular exam board or range of grades.
Please see the Aural Training Course Terms and Conditions for full details.
How much will it cost?
Prices are per course, per pupil:
£22 for those receiving Option A/B/C/D lessons with Musica Kirklees
£33 for those not receiving lessons with Musica Kirklees or who only attend a music centre/central ensemble
How can I enrol?
You will be able to enrol online when bookings opens for the next course
