There's so much going on at Holmfirth Festival of Folk 2019 and Musica Kirklees is delighted to be part of the festival.  Here are the events that we are involved with and there will be lots more performances and events to enjoy over the weekend from musicians from all over the country:

9.30 - 10.30am: Samba Workshop

Get inspired at a FREE hands-on workshop for the whole family, led by Katie Mallard.  The fun, friendly workshop, held at Holmfirth Civic Hall, will explore samba rhythms and instruments.  You’ll be able to share what you’ve learnt as part of a procession through the town at 3.20pm.  It’s a FREE event and spaces will be limited to a first-come-first-served basis.

12.00pm: Schools’ Concert

Live music at Holmfirth Civic Hall from Holme J and I School Strings, Holmfirth J I and N School Brass and Choir, Holmfirth High School, dancers from Netherthong Primary School and a group of songwriters from Musica Holme Valley.

The concert will conclude with a special performance of Sea Shanties Suite, arranged especially for the Festival by Will Mace and performed by pupils from schools across the valley.  Entry £3 with all proceeds going to the Festival (limited space - first-come-first-served).

2.00pm: Ukulele Jamboree

Ukulele players of all ages are invited to Hollowgate where they’ll be joined by musicians from community groups and local schools to form a huge ukulele orchestra.  Everyone is welcome to join in for fun strumming or to sing along.

FREE event - just come along on the day and enjoy it!  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
